Children & Teen Therapy

Anika Driedger (she/her)

MSW Intern

Hi, I’m Anika!

I am a Master of Social Work student at Wilfrid Laurier University completing my clinical practicum at New Moon Counselling under supervision. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Social Work degree with a minor in Psychology and am currently registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

My previous experience includes providing crisis support through Kids Help Phone, completing placements in child welfare and inpatient mental health, facilitating children’s programming, and working closely with children and families through nannying. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for resilience, the importance of supportive relationships, and the uniqueness of every person’s story.

Reaching out for support can look different for everyone, and whether you come with a clear goal in mind, a long list of things you’d like to talk about, or are unsure where to begin, my hope is to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you can show up authentically. I recognize that not everybody is ready to talk, and believe in meeting each person— no matter how young— with compassion, curiosity, and respect for their unique experiences.

I am especially interested in supporting children and teens navigate concerns related to communication, anxiety, self-esteem, emotional regulation, life transitions, identity exploration, trauma, and adverse life experiences. I am also passionate about supporting children, youth, and families affected by family conflict and domestic violence.

To slow down, I enjoy spending far too much money at local coffee shops, napping with my two cats, Dingus and Indi, adding to my DVD collection (I’m running out of room!), or FaceTiming my family in Alberta.
